Position: Pastry Chef (Full Time Position)

Working hours: 37.5hr/week

Wages: £20.00/hr

Location: Colchester/Essex

We are looking for a pastry chef who can run the pastry side of our Afro-carribean restaurant and catering services. As pastry chef will also support the chefs if needed on the other side. This role is 90% based on pastry. You will ensure all the pastry is ready for service. This role will include all the normal pastry duties.

 

We are looking for chef with a pastry Afro-carribean pastry menus background for this role, you will be organised. 

 

Job description:

  • As a pastry chef for Inspecting raw materials before use and record observations on a checklist for De Grove 

  • As a Pastry Chefs you be will cook and bake a wide range of De Grove delicious baked goods, including cakes, cookies, bread, pastries, and savouries such as Afro-carribean sausage rolls and pies.

  • You will be Assisting the Chief Chef in ensuring the success and profitability of the De grove restaurant and catering services.

  • Maintaining brand and quality standards in the outlets with presence during peak times of operations

  • Responsible in ensuring your practice and others follows strict safety and hygiene protocols and ensuring that the culinary team adheres to them as well in De Grove 

  • Leading and coaching the team towards exceptional guest service and colleague satisfaction results

  • You will be expected to requisition, purchase and examine all foodstuffs from suppliers to ensure quality to me De Grove standard.

  • You will be responsible to plans & design De grove pastry menus and for creation and updating of all recipes for pastry section

  • As pastry chef you will responsible to prepare , season and cook/baked foodstuffs to meet DE Grove customers demands.

  • Responsible to oversee the preparation and monitors the quality of finished dishes according our menu .

  • You will work in conjunction with the Chief chef to supervise, organise and instruct kitchen staff in ensuring their practices reflects De grove reputation and standards 

  • Solely responsible to manage De grove pastry menus and any pastries supplies / catering booked.

  • Report any food safety/health and safety issues to management immediately

  • Minimizing and recording of all food wastage

  • Assisting Head Chef with menu and product costing

  • Working with senior management to deliver “an exceptional bespoke experience”

Qualification /personal skills:

  • Certification: food Level 3 in food safety and hygiene 

  • Education: High school diploma or GCSE 

  • High standards and be quality driven

  • Creative and passionate about pastry/bakery work

  • Committed to food and customer service innovation

  • Excellent people skills with the ability to develop and work well within a team

  • Proven track record with stock management, H&S and food safety.

  • Passion for high quality tasty food, and someone who keeps up to date with food trends

  • Organised, able to make robust judgements and prioritise

  • Enthusiastic, motivational, someone who strives for excellence

  • Have a flexible approach with a “can do” attitude

  • Excellent communication and relationship building skills

 

Work Experience:

  • Must be able to demonstrate that you have extensive Pastry Chef experience

  • Excellent knowledge of baking techniques, ingredients, and equipment

  • Related Work Experience: 1-year related work experience.

  • Supervisory Experience: No supervisor

De Grove is classical Afro-carribean restaurant and catering business currently have a fantastic opportunity for an experienced Catering Manager with a management background in working in the hospitality industry to join our team in Colchester. To manage and overseas our catering business and resturant .

You will be providing outstanding service to the staff and customers whilst guiding and motivating your team to be the best they can possibly be. As the Catering Manager, you need to be commercially aware, with the presence and personality to influence the day-to-day business, you'll maximise the performance of your team, leading by example and setting high standards.

 

Job description 

  • To manage, coordinate, direct and oversees the day to day running of the resturant and catering services of DE Grove .

  • You will direct and co-ordinate the catering and bar facilities and services of licensed premises

  • You will enhance sales and provide our customers with great service for De Grove. 

  • You will responsible to build an excellent relationship with the client making sure their needs as well as contractual needs are met to the highest.

  • As a catering manager you expected to develop and sustain strong working relationship with the client

  • Over see and ensure that chefs prepares delicious, high-quality food that delights our clients and customers

  • You will be required to Maintain a high standard of cleanliness of the modern kitchen and front of house environment.

  • Managing a modern staff restaurant onsite, and promote catering business & restaurant.

  • Stock taking and ordering services

  • Responsible to monitor all events booking 

  • Ensure that De Grove maintains a high standard of cleanliness of the modern kitchen and front of house environment

  • Recruit, train, and manage staff, ensuring they meet health and safety standards. 

  • Work with chefs and management to Plan menus, considering nutritional standards, dietary requirements, and client preferences. 

  • Manage and Oversee all aspects of food and beverage preparation and service, ensuring smooth operations. 

  • Maintain high standards of food quality, hygiene, and customer service in our catering and restaurant business. You will expected to verify De Grove quality of food, beverages and waiting service are as required by the management.

  • Work to ensure that kitchen and dining areas are kept clean in compliance with statutory requirements

  • As a manager you are Expected to Manage budgets, track costs, and ensure profitability. 

  • Responsible to Consult with clients to plan events, discuss menu choices, and manage logistics. 

  • Responsible to Ensure compliance with all relevant food safety and health regulations.

  • Ensuring that practices complies with Food Handling & Hygiene standards

  • You will Oversee the preparation and setup of the venue for De Grove booked events .

  • Ensure to address issues and resolve problems that arise during operations at DE GROVE 

  • Expected to carry out all weekly book work and reports such as sales, event bookings , HACCP records and food temperatures .

  • Ensuring the correct training and use of all kitchen machinery and equipment are carried out by staff .

 

Qualification / Personal Skills:

Possess a management qualifications 

  • Possessing excellent culinary skills complemented by prior experience in contract catering within a hospitality business.

  • Excellent communication & leadership skills, able to engage and motive others

  • Experience in managing client relationships

  • Quality and process driven with particular focus on delivering results

  • IT literate (Ms Office and emails)

  • Business management within a catering environment

 

Work Experience:
